Therapies We Offer
Individual Therapy
Private one-on-one sessions with a licensed therapist create space to process emotions, identify patterns, and set personal goals. You’ll gain practical coping strategies that support long-term progress.
Group Therapy
Therapist-led group counseling provides connection with peers facing similar challenges. You’ll share experiences, practice new skills, and build stronger communication while reducing isolation.
Family Therapy
In family counseling sessions, families work on improving communication, setting boundaries, and resolving problems together. Evidence shows that family involvement strengthens recovery and stability.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT therapy teaches you to recognize unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, then replace them with healthier patterns. It is highly effective for anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and related conditions.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
In DBT therapy, you’ll expand on CBT skills with the addition of mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation. It helps with intense emotions, relationship conflict, and self-destructive behaviors.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
This structured technique helps to process traumatic memories safely. EMDR therapy reduces distress from past experiences and is especially helpful for trauma and PTSD recovery.
Somatic Therapy
In somatic therapy sessions, you’ll be focusing on how the body stores stress. Breathwork, grounding, and mindful movement help release tension and build a sense of safety.
Neurofeedback Therapy
Brainwave monitoring (neurofeedback) is used to improve focus, attention, and mood regulation. This specialized therapy can be combined with evidence-based care as an emerging option.
TMS Therapy
Transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS therapy, is a noninvasive treatment approved for depression when medications are not effective. A medical screening confirms eligibility.
Holistic Therapy
We blend clinical treatment with holistic care at Live Free. Therapies such as art, music, journaling, and outdoor activities nurture emotional expression, build coping skills, and support recovery.

FAQs About Therapies
Which therapy is best for anxiety?
CBT is the first-line approach for anxiety treatment and often includes exposure strategies. DBT may be added to support emotion regulation and mindfulness.
How do you choose between CBT, DBT, and EMDR?
CBT addresses thought and behavior patterns. DBT adds skills for managing intense emotions. EMDR focuses on trauma memory processing. Your plan will be tailored to your needs.
Is TMS the same as ECT?
No. TMS uses magnetic pulses and does not require anesthesia. ECT uses electrical currents under medical supervision. TMS is FDA-cleared for depression when medications have not worked.
Do you offer online therapy?
No. All care is provided in person at our Keene residential program. Our team will help plan outpatient or aftercare services near your home.
Can family be involved even if relationships feel strained?
Yes. Family therapy focuses on safe communication and small, manageable steps. Involvement is optional and tailored to your situation.
Can these therapies help with both mental health and addiction?
Yes. Therapies like CBT, DBT, EMDR, and group care support both mental health and substance use needs. Our dual diagnosis approach treats both together when needed.
